Fateful for 99 Cents

Fateful is on sale in celebration of Fair Maiden's release in the next couple of days.

Fair Maiden is the first book in my second series. It's a historical fantasy romance. Here is the description:

It's the Victorian era in England, but Contessa is from the medieval past. She awakens within a castle she has never seen before. Knowledge of her name also evades her. However, even worse than not knowing who or where she is, she cannot recall how she died or why she is dressed as a bride.

Check back Tuesday (or perhaps sooner) to get your copy of Fair Maiden!!!!

Indie eBooks Interview

Sunday, April 17, 2011

I found the site Indie eBooks which spotlights authors from around the world. Here is my Indie eBooks Interview on their site. Please go check it out.

And, for all you authors out there, please go read Joe Konrath's most recent blog post Are You Dense? It's a great read even for non-authors as well. Joe's blog has been my key inspiration in recent publishing decisions.

Fractured, the second in the Fateful series is halfway edited. Thank you to all those who've supported me by purchasing Fateful. I hope to reward you with the sequel very soon.

Many have asked me what they should do if they don't have a Kindle. Luckily, there are many free Kindle Apps. For example: Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch, BlackBerry, iPad and Android. Follow this link to download a Kindle App.

In the very near future I will be posting versions for the Nook, iPad and eventually printed copies as well.

If you haven't already done so, buy Fateful here!

Funny bit of trivia about Fateful...

~The Lucas motto: Get home before dark.~

The villain in Fateful is named Lucas, which is a name I chose for the character at random and I had no idea it actually had a double meaning in England. It turns out Lucas Electrical has been nicknamed “The Prince of Darkness” because of faulty parts. This link explains it like this:

You may well be aware that the Morris Minor uses a great deal of Lucas Electrical parts. But did you also know that Lucas is also The Prince of Darkness?! Here are some facts that prove beyond a doubt that Lucas really is a force from the dark side...

• Although Lucas denies having invented darkness itself, they still lay claim to "sudden, unexpected darkness"

• Lucas, inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.

• The three-position Lucas light switch has the following settings: DIM, FLICKER and OFF.

• Other three-position switches in the Lucas range can be set to: SMOKE, SMOLDER or IGNITE.

• Lucas Electrical products are the original anti-theft devices.

• "I've had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never experienced any prob..."

• Back in the '70s Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which didn't suck.

• The Quality Assurance department at Lucas phoned and advised the Engineering department that they were having trouble with the latest switch design shorting out. So they made the wires longer.

• A classic car enthusiast peeked in the windows of a Land Rover and asked the owner "How can you tell one switch from another at night, since they all look the same?". The owner replied, "It doesn't matter which one you use, nothing happens anyway!" • Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone...Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb...Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.

• The (little known) reason why the English drink warm beer, is that Lucas also made refrigerators! (submitted by Gene Mallory to the link above)

You can even buy a refrigerator magnet. So, in light of this info, I really think Lucas fits the villain in my book. If you would like to see why, well go buy and read Fateful!

The monster under the bed for every writer...typos

Monday, April 11, 2011

You know it's there, well, you worry it's there...lurking. But every time you look for it you can't see it. And the mystery remains even after you've had several editors look for you because everyone sees something different every time they look. And because of that, there's still a chance the beast is hiding in the shadows of your fictional dreams...until a reader finally sees it. That's when you know the nightmarish concern is real. Darn it.

I just got my first sale in the UK over the weekend, and I'm excited to have my first book finally published. Even so, I'm a little scared too. Behind the excitement and pride lurks that typo monster in the back of my mind. Of course I already found a tiny one my 5 editors missed even though they did an amazing job.
