Meet Tristan Hunt, the narrator of Fateful!

Saturday, June 21, 2014

(Portrait of Tristan was taken by Leslie Hassler. Click on her name to see more of her work!)

Tristan Hunt (aka Jason Downs) has been performing professionally for 30 years. He has appeared in films (Racing Daylight, Clara's Heart, Hairspray), on TV (Saturday Nite Live), on stage (Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest) and in commercials. His first paid job was a voice over at the age of 10 and he has loved recording ever since. His voice has been featured in film, in advertisements and in video games. He was also signed to Jive records and released two albums as a singer/songwriter resulting in a top 20 hit in the United Kingdom. He began narrating books in March of this year and has six releases available so far. Telling stories is something he truly loves to do and looks forward to doing for a long time to come.

Tristan's production of Fateful was released May 28th of this year and I couldn't be more pleased with his work! He brought my characters to life in a way I hadn't imagined was possible.

His soothing voice just dances over the words and I think he makes me sound like a better writer than I actually am.  Or maybe my style of writing just worked out well with his style of reading. I'm not really sure. All I know is that Fateful is very fun to listen to.

When it came to finding the right narrator for all of my books, I new I had to find the right actor. And for me it was a tall order, because I absolutely loved Jim Dale's production of Harry Potter so much I was very picky about my choice. I'm happy to say that I am just as happy with Tristan's performance in Fateful as I was with anything I've heard from Jim Dale.

(Note: If you have not heard Harry Potter on audio yet, you should! It's fabulous.) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1)

Anyway, Tristan made Danielle very likable. Brianna a bit snarky and funny, but awesome. Ethan sounds genuine, Max is sexy, and the fairies are perfect. The romantic scenes have just the right amount of sensuality, and laughter can be heard in his voice when the scene is funny. Seriously, you have to hear it to believe it.

If you have not read Fateful, pick up the audio and see what everyone is talking about. Or pick up the eBook for FREE, and then listen to the audio which you could also get for free if you're new to Audible.

Blog Tour and Book Release for Author Stacy Lynn Carroll

Friday, November 1, 2013

Don't miss your chance to get:

The Princess Sisters

By Stacy Lynn Carroll

For FREE!!!!

And then pick up the sequel:

Frogs & Toads

(Click on one of the book cover images on the right to purchase...)

Get to know Stacy a tiny bit better from this author interview:

1.  What inspired you to write this book?
When I started writing the first book The Princess Sisters, I got about halfway through and realized I was trying to put way too much into one book. So rather than end up with a 700 page book, I decided I needed to break it up and write a trilogy. My characters just have a lot to say!

2. Who is your favorite fairytale character?
My favorite fairy tale character is Rapunzel. I don't know why, but I've always been fascinated with her story! And no matter which version you read, she is strong and ends up saving the prince in the end. No helpless, little princess here! You definitely don't want to mess with a person who can hold up a 200 pound prince with her hair.

3. Do you have any irrational fears?
I am crazy afraid of spiders. Like, I scream whenever I see one. I've even called a neighbor to come kill one for me when my husband wasn't home. Grant it, the thing was a freaking Buick with eight legs, but still. Whenever I do get the courage to kill one myself, usually to protect my children from their evilness, I then have this irrational fear the rest of the day that its family is after me. Someday the species is going to come together to form an army and attack. I just know it!

4. Are there any books you love so much you've reread them over and over?
Honestly, no. I love books and I love to read! But I always have too many new books I want to read that I've never gone back to revisit old favorites.

5. Favorite book to movie adaptation?
The Hunger Games. I know movies are never as good as the books, but I came out of that movie feeling completely satisfied with their adaptation.

6. What is a quote you find inspiring?
"You're only as happy in life as you make up your mind to be" --Lucille Ball.

7. Are there any fictional characters that you've fallen for?
There are plenty that I have loved for the heroine of the book. But I've got a pretty great guy at home, so no need to fall for another in the fictional world.

8. When you're browsing for books, what makes you pick one book over another?
Usually a cover that jumps out at me. Either bright colors, or an interesting image. I don't really like people on the front. Then you aren't able to imagine a character for yourself. Then, of course, a synopsis that makes me need to know more.

9. Which genre would you like to live in: dystopian, paranormal, historical, fantasy, or just contemporary.
Probably fantasy. It would be really cool to swim with mermaids, fly on pegasus, and ride a unicorn. Plus the whole living in a castle and being a princess thing appeals to me too.

10. What is an interesting fact about your and/or your books?
An interesting fact about me is I'm strangely obsessed with the color pink. I have a pink streak in my hair, before I had kids I drove a hot pink Nissan Sentra, and the majority of my clothes are pink or have pink in them. I'm not even a super girly-girl either. I just enjoy pink. The brightness makes me happy! There is also pink featured on both of my book covers. The back of The Princess Sisters and the border around the title is bright pink, and the girl's lips on the Frogs & Toads cover is pink.

Reviews of both books to come!!! But first, I must say I love love love the fact that Cinderella wears combat boots...Love these book covers too, don't you?

Synopsis:
The Fateful Trilogy continues with Fractured. No, it's not called Fractured because Ethan and Danielle break up, because they don't...in case you were wondering.

They had thought they'd escaped most of the danger surrounding them, when in truth they've made it worse by unintentionally sparking a civil war amongst vampires. Many vampires want to protect them for discovering the cure to the curse binding their kind. However many more want to destroy them for that same discovery.

Ethan's and Danielle's struggle for survival intensifies while they sink deeper into the midst of this danger. The romantic fairytale bliss they once had will soon fracture under the pressure of the curse....

Review by Jaterry: She out did herself!
OMG!!!! If it was even possible Cheri Schmidt outdid herself with this, it is a million times better then Fateful with twists at ever turn! I couldnt put it down, it even made me late to work!

Please dont read this book if you havent 1st read Fateful, and for all the people who said it was a Twilight knock off, you have to read this book, it by far blows Twilight out of the water! and I am a huge Twilight fan.

Ethan and Danielle dont fail to deliver on the romance and surprises! And the action of the vampire civil war will keep you on your feet! this was an easy book to get wrapped up in, I easily felt Danielle's excitement, fear and disappointment, and even cried for her at one point.

Without any spoilers, I really wish we could have seen more of Lilith and a better description of "goth" Ethan but other then that, I have no complaints! you have to read this book, what are you waiting for click the button!!!!

Can not wait for book 3! I would love to see Danielle get her revenge (more then what was done) on Celeste!

Synopsis:

It's the Victorian era in England, but Tessa is from the medieval past. She awakens within a castle she has never seen before. Knowledge of her name also evades her. However, even worse than not knowing who or where she is, she cannot recall how she died or why she is dressed as a bride.

Review by Keni:

I can promise that i will be one of the first to recommend this book to everyone and anyone i know who can appreciate a well written and gorgeous love story. In fact, this is so book is so extraordinary, i'm dropping what i'm reading now and picking this up. This giveaway will run from January 8th to the 14th.

I wonder if artist Paul Busse has read Forever...During the holidays I went to the National Botanic Garden to see the holiday display, which was designed by Paul Busse and had a fairy theme. When I looked into one of the little holes with a fairy room inside, it immediately took me to a scene in Forever almost exactly as I'd described it! Of course I was enchanted and had to go see it twice. For those of you who have read Forever, can you imagine a fairy sitting in the rocking chair with a baby in her arms like I can?! Or is it just me?

If you like fairies, there are lots of them in Forever as well as vampires, werewolves, pixies, witches, and mermaids...

Don't miss your chance to snatch up two books for your new Kindle for FREE!!!

For two days, snatch up your copy of Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals. A Non-Fiction with a Paranormal twist that is based on the highly talked about Fateful Trilogy which was based on the Frog Prince.

And hiding in Fateful's shadow, but not to be missed, is Fair Maiden, which is also free for two days. This unique spin on Sleeping Beauty is a YA Fantasy Romance set in the Victorian Era with a Medieval twist.

Both books will be available for free ONLY December 26th, and 27th. (Act now, this sale could end early without warning.) So please don't miss out. And, of course, thank you in advance for tweeting and posting about this on Facebook for me. XOXO

Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals:
If you're planning a fairy party, or a tea party, or just a nice dinner of comfort foods, this cookbook has something for you. If you're curious about the Fateful Trilogy, then this would be a good introduction.

Fateful has been my biggest seller, and still is. This cookbook is the perfect companion to the story that has been read by so many. Enjoy Ethan's chocolate cake just like Danielle did in Fateful. Make the magic fairy juice given to Ethan and Danielle by the fairies, minus the magic, hopefully.... Plan a tea party with finger foods just like Sophia's. These recipes will bring you inside the story allowing you to linger in the Fateful world a bit longer.

Shown in the picture above is a fairy cake as found in the cookbook. It's very light and moist, filled with made-from-scratch lemon curd and topped with buttercream frosting. So far this little cupcake is a hit.

There's no reason you can't just put your Kindle right on your cookbook stand like I do. And with an ebook, you can't slime the pages like Sophia slimes her apron!

Fair Maiden:
Synopsis:

Enjoy A Holiday of Book Deals and Giveaways!

Friday, December 14, 2012

Until Christmas and then also the week after Christmas, I'll be posting a few giveaways and great deals on eBooks! I'll be listing a variety of books including some from me and some from other authors. Here is the first great deal:

Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren is FREE for Kindle and Nook right now! I don't know how long the sale will last, so don't miss it.

This is a book I've been eager to read and am very pleased to get it for free.

Description:

Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Bentarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives with their parents, famed Etruscan scholars, among the romantic hills. In Book One of the River of Time series, Gabi and Lia are stuck among the rubble of medieval castles in rural Tuscany on yet another hot, boring, and dusty archeological site … until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces.

And thus she comes to be rescued by the knight-prince Marcello Falassi, who takes her back to his father’s castle—a castle Gabi has seen in ruins in another life. Suddenly Gabi’s summer in Italy is much, much more interesting. But what do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone who commented and entered. I'll be contacting the winner shortly. Happy Holidays!!!

Welcome to another giveaway hop from I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Chapter by Chapter. Please click on either one of those links for over a 200 more chances to win stuff for book lovers!

Thanks for choosing to stop by my blog out of the many available through this hop. I love visitors almost as much as I love comments, so if you have time, post a comment too. :)

If you're still craving vampires, then try The Fateful Series. (Read the review that best describes my characters here.)

But, if you're in the mood for something truly unique, without vampires, then try Fair Maiden. This story was inspired by Sleeping Beauty, but it's a very unusual spin on that classic tale.

Um, the Free promo for  Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals didn't work, and I'm not sure why because I scheduled it. I'll try to redo it before the holidays. Stay tuned! ;)

(This cookbook is a great introduction to The Fateful Trilogy if you haven't read it yet.)

Here is a review from Natalie:

"Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals is so much more than a few recipes. First off I must say that the author has done a great job on the cover; Cheri's book covers are always beautiful. The cookbook starts off with an introduction by the author and also Sophia. "Enjoy my dear little mortals! I envy your taste buds." Then the recipes are divided into seven sections: Finger Foods and Dips / Soups, Sides, and Salads / Main Dishes / Breakfast / Tea Party / Fairy Refreshments / Puddings, Afters, and Desserts. Each section is introduced by Sophia and following her words is an excerpt from the Fateful Trilogy. I think the addition of the excerpts provides us readers a fun way to reminisce our way through the trilogy. And not only is each section introduced by Sophia, but she has something personal to say about each and every recipe! All the sections are full of delicious looking recipes begging to be tried; 71 in all. I'm looking forward to trying the Shrimp Taco's with a Honey-Butter Sauce and the White Chocolate Fairy Berry Cupcakes, among many others. There is also more traditional foods like Chicken Noodle Soup for Sick Mortals. Included at the end of the cookbook is an excerpt from the upcoming Max and Nadia Story by the same author. (Can't wait for that one!) I think this cookbook is appropriate for both fans of the Fateful Trilogy and those who are curious about it. Though the excerpts contain spoilers if you haven't read the trilogy. Well done Cheri!"

The Fateful Trilogy is full of  furry werewolves, fluttering fey, and fanged vampires. Here's an excerpt from Forever that covers two of them, and mentions the other.

Before you start reading!!! Please know this does contain spoilers if you haven't read the books!

Forever (Chapter 2)
The Things of Nightmares

“What do they eat?” Danielle asked tucking her feet beneath her and setting her untouched plate of cake on the nightstand next to the bed. She couldn’t stomach even chocolate right now. Werewolves were creepy enough and now Lucas was one of them? If they were like wolves it might not be so bad, but these things were nightmarishly frightening with distorted human faces semi-cloaked beneath a wicked-looking mask of a beast. A shudder rolled up her spine and she looked at Ethan to see if he’d noticed.

Apparently he hadn’t. He seemed really distracted, like he had the weight of dark and wicked things on his shoulders. A little sigh blew past her lips, because he probably did. Staring straight ahead like he was, she could see his profile perfectly. His golden eyebrows were drawn low over his straight nose. Wire-rimmed glasses were perched there and Danielle’s mouth wanted to smile at how handsomely adorable he was with them on. She preferred him this way, slightly blind, and completely normal.... But her smile never made it to her lips because his mouth was pursed with deep thoughts—thoughts that were likely tormenting his peace of mind. His usually calm, blue-eyed gaze reflected the distress within. Again she wondered if he regretted the return to weak-mortal-ness, even though he’d been the one to first partake of the candy before prompting her to follow. He dragged a hand through his blond hair which needed a trim and hung into his eyes until he pushed it back. After a long pause, Ethan finally answered her question. “During a full moon? Flesh ... probably.”

“You don’t know for sure?” she asked, trying not to let what he just said totally freak her out.

His eyes shifted to hers. “No. Their kind is even more reclusive than fairies are.”

Danielle turned away from the upsetting things she could see within his expression, and nudged the plate of cake out of the way as she reached for her tea. Maybe that would help settle her stomach, because it was churning at the idea of Lucas with a whole mouthful of pointy teeth instead of just a pair of fangs. He’d been scary enough as a vampire, and now he was something she knew very little about. A sip of creamy peach liquid filled her mouth and then slid down her throat as she swallowed. “Then how can we fight them?” she asked. Danielle decided the tea was helping a little and took another sip, watching the little rosebud painted inside it disappear as she rocked the cup level again.

“It doesn’t seem like they can do anything to vampires. We’ve fought them before, as you know, and none of us were affected adversely. I suppose it could be due to the fact that the curses were placed by different sorceresses.”

“Hmm,” she murmured as she drank, again watching for the pink rosebud with green leaves inside her cup.

“I love watching you do that.”

Startled by the sudden change in topic she looked at Ethan, who was smiling. “Do what?”

“Watch for the flower.” When she wrinkled her brow at him, confused, he added, “The one inside your teacup.”

While rounding, her eyes swung back as the flower in question disappeared halfway below the liquid line. “You noticed I do that?” Had she even noticed she did that?

He popped a few pieces of popcorn in his mouth and said around it, “I noticed that, and the fact that you’re not really paying any attention to the picture.”

With eyes returning to the television, she figured it had been playing for a while and she had no idea what was going on. Is that what he’d been so focused on earlier? Somehow she doubted it. On a sigh she said, “I need to know more about them, more about what to expect from Lucas now.”

...Note: This series is not suitable for anyone who doesn't like glittering fairies, vicious pixies, hot vampires with British accents, creepy werewolves, the dashing Mr. Darcy, or large amounts of snogging...
