Don't miss your chance to snatch up two books for your new Kindle for FREE!!!

For two days, snatch up your copy of Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals. A Non-Fiction with a Paranormal twist that is based on the highly talked about Fateful Trilogy which was based on the Frog Prince.

And hiding in Fateful's shadow, but not to be missed, is Fair Maiden, which is also free for two days. This unique spin on Sleeping Beauty is a YA Fantasy Romance set in the Victorian Era with a Medieval twist.

Both books will be available for free ONLY December 26th, and 27th. (Act now, this sale could end early without warning.) So please don't miss out. And, of course, thank you in advance for tweeting and posting about this on Facebook for me. XOXO

Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals:
If you're planning a fairy party, or a tea party, or just a nice dinner of comfort foods, this cookbook has something for you. If you're curious about the Fateful Trilogy, then this would be a good introduction.

Fateful has been my biggest seller, and still is. This cookbook is the perfect companion to the story that has been read by so many. Enjoy Ethan's chocolate cake just like Danielle did in Fateful. Make the magic fairy juice given to Ethan and Danielle by the fairies, minus the magic, hopefully.... Plan a tea party with finger foods just like Sophia's. These recipes will bring you inside the story allowing you to linger in the Fateful world a bit longer.

Shown in the picture above is a fairy cake as found in the cookbook. It's very light and moist, filled with made-from-scratch lemon curd and topped with buttercream frosting. So far this little cupcake is a hit.

There's no reason you can't just put your Kindle right on your cookbook stand like I do. And with an ebook, you can't slime the pages like Sophia slimes her apron!

Fair Maiden:
Synopsis:
It's the Victorian era in England, but Tessa is from the medieval past. She awakens within a castle she has never seen before. Knowledge of her name also evades her. However, even worse than not knowing who or where she is, she cannot recall how she died or why she is dressed as a bride.

Along with Christian, the earl of the castle she haunts, Tessa tries to discover who she is and break the spell holding her in a prison of death. They never imagined the curse keeping them apart is the only thing protecting her, until it's too late.

Review by Keni:

"This book is so great. I always enjoy a little bit of mystery in my novels, especially since Sherlock Holmes is my superhero. And there is plenty of mystery in Fair Maiden. There's also romance, fantasy, and a chivalrous Earl named Christian. This book is perfect for the little girl in all of us, and also perfect for the more mature side of us. I can promise that i will be one of the first to recommend this book to everyone and anyone i know who can appreciate a well written and gorgeous love story. In fact, this is so book is so extraordinary, i'm dropping what i'm reading now and picking this up. So, if you need me, i'll be curled up with a blanket, a cup of hot cocoa, and an absolutely amazing novel called Fair Maiden by the wonderful Cheri Schmidt."

The Order of Curse-Bound Knights, my NaNoWriMo project for November!

Thursday, November 1, 2012

This is the first time I have ever joined NaNoWriMo so I'm not sure how it's going to work. I also don't know if The Order of Curse-Bound Knights is going to be a novella or a full-length novel...we shall see. (To read an excerpt of this book, please scroll down a couple of posts.)

Because of this writing goal, I probably won't be posting much in the month of November.  Between writing and family holiday stuff, I just won't have time.

If you're interested in winning signed copies of my books or book-themed swag while I work on Max and Nadia's story, then visit my Facebook Fan Pages... ;)

Before I sign off to the past and my world of vampires, here are a couple of announcements. My husband is working on formatting the update of Fair Maiden and Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals for print! I'm trying to get the Cookbook spiral-bound so it lays flat nicely. I'm still trying to find the perfect printer for that option.

Enjoy this preview of the new look for Fair Maiden and the front and back of the Cookbook. Plus, I'll be contacting everyone I know as I search for my Max and Nadia cover models...

Midsummer's Eve Giveaway Hop

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

Welcome to another awesome giveaway hop hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Uniquely Moi Books.

It's probably because of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, but when I think of Midsummer's Eve, I just can't help but think of fairies. Of course many different countries have a variety of ways to celebrate it, many of them with bonfires, and I don't really know if fey have much to do with any of these celebrations or not.

Since fairies are on my mind, however, I figured what better thing to giveaway than Danielle's Fairy Necklace? This piece is described in Forever (Book 3 in The Fateful Trilogy). It was given to Danielle by the fairies and somewhat like the fairies in Shakespeare's tale, the sneaky little sprites play tricks on Danielle and Ethan as well.

This necklace is handmade from antique brass findings and chain from VintaJ. The aqua crystals are real Swarovski faceted beads. The center drop is a pale aqua, 8mm, Amazonite bead. The beautiful antique brass bead in the back is so pretty you can wear it backwards for two different looks. This Victorian design is unique and will be a piece that people will ask where you got it from. The matching aqua crystal earrings are included in the set. On my website, I charge $39.99 for this set. (Note: The three-way connector in the center will be slightly different, seems I can't purchase that one any longer, but the replacement is equally as nice, if not better! If I have time, I'll take some more photos for you.)

To enter:
(This giveaway is now closed. I'll contact the winner directly very soon. And thanks to the 235 of you who entered!!! Wow!!! Heh, wish that had translated into new book sales. LOL Oh well.)

YA Indie Carnival ~ Sequels

New releases in the works!!!

I love to know what my readers want in my sequels. Which is why I asked you what you wanted to see in Forever, the final book in the Fateful Trilogy. I worked really hard at incorporating what you'd asked for. You said you wanted to see more mystical creatures, and you wanted to know how Ethan and Danielle recognized each other. As I work on more sequels, please tell me, what do you want to see, or rather, read? Let me know in the comments of this post!

To get your imagination going, here is a preview of what I'm working on:

The Fateful Trilogy is Ethan’s and Danielle’s story only. But I know many of you fell in love with the side characters as well. To be honest, in some cases, that really surprised me! They were just side characters, after all! But I’m also very flattered and my head is still in that world as well as with Ethan and Danielle. So I simply can’t stop myself from writing about these “side characters” that you’ve fallen in love with. While the Fateful Trilogy was just for Ethan and Danielle, the Fateful Series is for all of them!!!

(If you haven't read The Fateful Trilogy yet, I'll tell you a secret. If you buy the three books together as one by clicking on the picture to the right, then it's just like getting Fateful for free. If you're not sure if you'll like the book, then read the excerpt first...)

I have so many books planned, it’s really hard for me to list them all especially since I don’t know how soon their releases are, but I’ll do my best to give you a preview. Note: The titles of all of these could change...and these are not in order of release:

Sophia's Cookbook for Mortals: A fun and real recipe book featuring recipes Sophia likes to mess up her apron with. This one will be released in a a week or two! (Check my previous posts to get a copy of her scone recipe.)

Maximilian: A novelette on how Max joined a new Order of Knights and then met Nadia. This one will start out in a historical setting and move to a modern one. (For an excerpt of this story got to the blog post right before this one!)

Becoming Cursed: A novelette in a historical setting on how Beon became a vampire and then courted Sophia by kidnapping her.

The Black Prince: A novelette on your favorite surly prince.

Little Red: A novelette about the red-headed witch in Forever and her forbidden love for a werewolf.

I have plans for some of the other Fateful side characters as well, like Brianna, Danielle’s cousin. I just haven’t worked out all of the details yet. so please stay tuned! ;)

The Trapping Club: I have a lot of handwritten notes for The Trapping club—this is the sequel to Fair Maiden, or book 2 in that series. Beginning with a magical masquerade and a kidnapping, The Trapping club is the tale of second sons as they struggle for survival in a society that leaves such forgotten. Those who’ve read the first book will be surprised to find that the hero of this next enchanting tale is the brother of the villain in Fair Maiden, and the heroine will be a grown-up Emma...

The Mistaken Reformer: This is book 3 in the Fair Maiden series. Peter, Christian’s brother will be the hero and the heroine is still a mystery as of yet...

The Fairy Ring Enchantment: This is the first story I dreamed about, thinking it would be a short picture book. But when I started writing, it was turning into a novel. With no plans of becoming a writer, I was extremely confused by that. I never thought I'd have a novel in me. This is a story about fair rings and why you shouldn’t step inside them...

I’m also working on a steampunk story and, believe it or not, a new twist on Peter Pan! But a gown up Peter Pan. Just like a grown up Jeremy Sumpter as shown in the photo on the right. LOL In truth, the Peter Pan one totally took me by surprise and came to me in a dream a couple of weeks ago. Both of these stories should appeal to those of you who loved Fair Maiden. I'm sure I'm forgetting to list a few, but this is all I can recall at the moment.

Reviews:

Magical, Romantic and Unique! ~ Courtney

This book is amazing!!I finished in half a day because I could not put it down. There is a good amount of romance in this novel, but it is not overboard. The characters are great and you really get involved in their emotions. Abosolutely loved this book and recomend it to anyone who enjoys romance and/or novels about magic and medival times!! ~Jodi

This has to be one of the most fun, magical, sweet and yes...emotional books I have read. The old fashion love story was very refreshing compared to some of the modern day love stories of today. I have heard that there will be another book to this story and am so excited for it to come out. Love this book so much! ~ LeAnn

Being a Cheri Schmidt fan, I knew I would like this book... But I didn't realize how much I would LOVE this book. It is so clever, and takes you on a suspenseful and romantic ride from beginning to end. As usual Cheri has created a perfect romance and wonderfully quirky characters for you to fall in love with from the moment they are introduced! You will feel like you are living the story... and if you are an avid reader like I am, then you know how hard that can be to find in a book. So, if you are in the mood for a murder mystery/fantasy/romance novel this is the book for you. Personally, I love the combination of the genres in this book and I really hope to see more work like this from Cheri. :) Also, if you have not already, check out Cheri's other books, Fateful and Fractured. They are absolutely spell binding as well. ~Brittany

Drew’s interview of Ethan Deveroux: (Don't miss the giveaway at the end ;)

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Drew: Thanks for joining me today. It’s nice to talk man to man.

Ethan: Indeed. The pleasure is all mine, I must say.

Drew: (wrinkling his nose like something smells bad) “Indeed?” and “I must say?” Your...um, historic choice of words prompts me to ask: Do you realize that you sound kind of cheesy sometimes?

Ethan: It might be that British, Mr-Darcy-like side of me coming out. I grew up in the late 1800’s. Sorry, old habits. (Ethan grins showing teeth)

Drew: Mr. Darcy, huh?

Ethan: I daresay, if someone plucked him from the past and plopped him right in the middle of the 21st-century, wouldn't people label the poor bloke as cheesy too? (Ethan slants an offended gaze back at Drew)

Drew: Dude! People don’t say “daresay” anymore!

Ethan: British guys do.

Drew: Really? (still not buying it)

Ethan: We use words like actually, bangers and mash, bloke, pip pip, cheerio, and knickers quite frequently too.

Drew: (Drew gaped at Ethan before saying) You’re pulling my leg.

Ethan: (smirking knowingly) Perhaps.

Drew: So is it safe to guess that you know the effect this kind of speech has on women?

Ethan: (shrugs shoulders) Danielle likes it...and with that knowledge, I confess I might be pouring it on a little thick.

Drew: Let’s get back to business, shall we?

Ethan: Very British way of putting it. (Ethan offered in approval)

Drew: Er, thanks...So in the books it's mentioned that you and Danielle recognize and know each other. From like another time. Can you explain that?

Ethan: I believe we knew each other BEFORE we were born into this life, as spirits basically. I also believe we chose one another then and had a relationship then. But since none of us can remember our existence before we were born, we too can’t remember that time together either. We can only see it when we look directly into each other’s eyes, or sense it, really. It’s sort of like how one’s spirit continues to exist after death of the physical body—one existed before physical life too.

Drew: Don't you know a witch, or fairy, or something that could shed some light on this for you?

Ethan: Hm, perhaps. That’s a good idea, though. I'll look into it and inform you all in book 3.

Drew: So how old are you?

Ethan: A little over 170.

Drew: And how long have you been a vampire?

Ethan: I was turned in my twenties, so for about 150 years.

Drew: Why do you want to be human and mortal? Why not stay a vampire with all of the benefits that come with that?

Ethan: I still consider myself human, just cursed. And as a cursed man I can't have children. I want to be a father more than I want immortality.

Drew: But all of that power and strength! Can’t you hypnotize with our eyes and don’t you have some kind of magical breath that smells intoxicating instead of like normal breath...which might smell more like a burger with onions for example?

Ethan: (Glancing sideways, a grin lifts the corners of his mouth.) I rather fancy American burgers with ketchup and mustard and pickles and, of course, melted cheese. Ah! Don’t forget the chips!

Drew: You’re getting sidetracked again.

Ethan: (rubbing his stomach) I suppose I should have stopped for a bite first.

Drew: So at the end of book 2 you make a decision that seemed sort of impulsive to me. Why so quick? Why no hesitation?

Ethan: Inside I did hesitate. There are advantages, so to speak, that I will miss due to that decision. But I strongly believe it was for the best, for both Danielle and me. I will always do what's best for her. Deep down I can be as selfish as anyone, but in this instance, I was choosing what I thought was best for her. She really hated being a vampire even if I thought she was safer that way. I just want her to be happy.

Drew: What do you have to say to people who say you’re like Edward?

Ethan: Well... I’m older than he is. I have blond hair and blue eyes. I can grow facial hair and I can tan when exposed to the sun. I’ve never looked down on Danielle as though she were a child. Our spirits are the same age even if our physical bodies aren’t. I see her as an equal, no actually, that isn’t right either. I put her above me. I respect her. She can kick major a—! And I’ve let her defend herself when I knew she could. Like with that handsy-creep she met at the dance club.

(Ethan took a big breath and released it slowly, also releasing his fisted fingers.)

Going back to that Edward chap, I certainly do not sparkle, and I have real fangs! I believe I do have a soul, always have. I believe in an afterlife as well as a pre-earth life, which is where I believe I met Danielle, and probably why I don’t fear the idea of growing old as a mortal man. And, most importantly to me, I wasn’t constantly resisting the urge to eat Danielle. I was more concerned with getting to know her, winning her heart and becoming un-cursed so I could have a normal life with her. ~He’s a little aggitated. His accent got thicker...~

Drew: So what is the deal with you and Lucas?

Ethan: The troubles with him go back to our days in school as teenagers. He became a murderer before he ever became a vampire. My friends and I tried to stop him but failed. He blames me for things I couldn't change and things I did do to him. Because of that conflict he went after Danielle. I regret the fact that my past put Danielle in danger.

Drew: What should readers look forward to in book 3?

Ethan: Readers will learn the details about my past with Lucas. And you’ll get to know me even better than before. Look forward to another wild ride with a considerable dose of danger, an introduction to more mythical creatures and, as always, plenty of romance and sexy Victorian lingo. (Ethan winks, only smiling with half his mouth.)

Author note: The sale on Fateful will be ending soon, so I suggest you snatch it up now! Plus I’ll give away a free e-book OR PRINTED COPY of Fateful or Fractured or Fair Maiden to one of the lucky people who post a comment below by August 12th. (Yes, even international.)

Cheers! Cheri

FAIR MAIDEN GHOST is complete and a sequel is in the works. Beginning with a magical masquerade and a kidnapping, THE TRAPPING CLUB is the tale of second sons as they struggle for survival in a society that leaves such forgotten. Those who’ve read the first book will be surprise to find that the hero of this next enchanting tale is the brother of the villain in FAIR MAIDEN GHOST, and the heroine will be a grown-up Emma....

I’ve also finished the sequel to FATEFUL, which is entitled FRACTURED. I can’t tell you much about it yet as I don’t wish to spoil the first if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading it. All I can say is that Ethan and Danielle’s struggle for survival intensifies while they sink deeper into the midst of this civil war amongst vampires. The fateful fairytale romance they once had will soon fracture under the pressure of the curse....
